Since November 11, 2007 the Caliente Stadium has become the official home of “Club Tijuana Xoloitzcuintles de Caliente”. The team is wildly popular in the region and the stadium has enjoyed the team’s elevated status, becoming a notable soccer venue for Tijuana.
Located at the Caliente Racetrack, the stadium has a temporary capacity of 13,333 attendants (first phase). By the final construction phase, it will have a capacity for 33,333 spectators who will proudly enjoy the most modern stadium nationwide.
So far, Caliente Stadium has housed not only the local team, Xoloitzcuintles, but also a number of important events that have been enjoyed, not only by Tijuana residents, but also by residents from across the border in neighboring California.
A number of very important soccer matches have taken place at the stadium, such as the friendly match between Mexican National Team - Under 23 and its counterpart from Paraguay.
The stadium hosted the classic soccer match between veteran players from “Chivas Rayadas” from Guadalajara and “Aguilas del America”, as well as large scale concerts of great performing artists such as Maná and Shakira.
In the near future, Caliente Stadium will host more special events such as concerts from important artists. Upon completion of construction, it will have met all the specifications required by the Mexican Football Soccer Federation (FMF) for national and international matches. The stadium is destined to assume its role of being one of the most popular attractions at a local and regional level.
